Abhijit Das

Abhijit Das

Born: 1987

Hometown: kolkata

Based in: India

Abhijit Das is an Indian abstract artist whose love for snow-capped mountains, passes, glaciers, rocky terrains, colourful landscapes, valleys and highways inspires his art practice. He is a passionate mountain trekker who pours out what he captures on the slopes on to his canvas.
His earlier works were small compositions of water colour on paper with nature and daily life as subjects. As his practice and thought process matured, his subject selection and style evolved to abstracts. The works of Mark Rothko, Vincent van Gogh, Jackson pollock, Ganesh Haloi, Jyoti Bhatt, Salvador Dali and M.N. Tallur inspired him to explore further.
Abhijit works on the foundation that illusion always stays ahead of reality, even in practical life. Illusion changes reality into a new discovery with a different perspective. This kind of discovery that illusion creates always gets reflected in his artworks. His effort is not to present a concrete thought to the viewers. He strongly believes that the viewers may comfortably accept any art when they feel that they are a part of it.
