Alfonso Sánchez Pérez
Based in: Alicante
Abstract painter from Alicante, passionate about art in continuous experimentation.
"Most of my work could be defined as abstract expressionism. It is a lyrical painting, based on the work of color, texture and brushwork.
My work tries to connect with my most primitive brain, not to think or at least not to work with very elaborate thoughts, I work quickly, with gestures, with intuition and with the music I listen to.
The uncertainty in our personal lives and in the world is what leads me to paint and to do so through a creative process also dominated by uncertainty about the result.
I think the theme is always the same, trying to find some certainty in a world where there is none and freely expressing very crude sensations that connect with the oldest part of my being.
I think deep down I am very similar to a painter from 30 or 40,000 years ago."

Describe your creative process.
Intuitive and gestural painting, I try not to think, just act. I work in layers, first with a lot of water and little by little with greater definition. I try to connect with the most primitive part of my brain, not judge what I paint, allow error and take advantage of it. I work with a lost gaze.
