Hometown: West Vancouver
Based in: West Vancouver
Self taught. Originally trained as an optometrist in NYC, I also worked as a fashion stylist through school. This is where I began to get interested in photography, colour theory and the use of dimension and optics. The artwork started out as a photograph where I use light, shadow and colour to create an image, I then use layering of acetate and resin to add dimension to create a sculpture out of a photograph.

"Just piecing together different ideas and playing with light...."
What inspires you?
The medium of photography and the use of optics, light and dimension to create an image always inspires me. Combining these shapes with the use of colour theory allows a sculpture to be made from a photogaph, that can vary depending on background, lighting conditions and ambient light.
Describe your creative process.
I love chasing shadows, particularly during the golden hour, so I look for interesting naturally occurring shapes to create an image, then use filters and digitally create another overlying shape.
What are 3 words that best describe your work?
Shadow, light and colour theory
Who are some artists that have influenced your work?
Nick Knight, Gerhardt Richter, Kal Mansur
What is the most important tool when creating your work?
Natural light and the use of architecture to create shadow, shape and a structure.
What is the best piece of advice you have been given?
Always appreciate the simple little things in life.
Where do you go for inspiration?
On my deck to admire sunrises and sunsets. I love the creative energy of New York City too.
