Artist and photographer, Amrita Bilimoria’s work has been described as simmering with vitality. A fusion of effortless glamour, elegance, strength and power. For Amrita, the equestrian world has long held a special magic to it and a distinct energy which translates into her creative vision. By using her imagination, personal experiences, versatility and love of working with people she has developed her unique criteria of beauty. Seamlessly weaving the contemporary with the classic, the photographs tell their own story. Authentic with an implied sensitivity, they capture her natural expression.
Born in London, Amrita went to school in the UK whilst home was abroad as an expat in Saudi Arabia for many years and later Kuwait. Amrita studied Economics & Politics at The University of Edinburgh, after graduating she joined US investment bank Morgan Stanley, in London. Her passion for creativity, art and photography remained a constant throughout a fifteen year career in finance. Horses have been intrinsically connected to Amrita’s life, but it was a chance trip to Argentina in 2003 when she started playing polo, that reignited her love for the equestrian world. Equipped with a unique skillset, it later motivated her to take the step of working for herself as an equestrian art photographer.
Self-taught, Amrita has developed a style of her own and a distinctive evolving body of work. Amrita has had contact with different people, religions, ethnicities and ways of life, which has given her both an open mind and the ability to see the unique beauty of each place she works in. With her signature cropped frames, use of natural light and muted colour palette combined with the occasional theatrical pop of colour, the images carry a hint of drama and excitement. Composed intuitively, with her own artistic perspective and a very particular attention to detail. It’s about a style of a life.
Amrita has worked with interior designers for both private individuals and in corporate interiors, for hedge fund clients based in London and Europe. Amrita is passionate about architecture and interior design. She understands the importance of working with her clients in terms of choosing the artwork from her collection, to help them achieve an aesthetic of luxury and understated cool for the space.
Amrita has created both written and image based content working to brief, with high end global clients and their creative teams for international campaigns in the luxury lifestyle sector. She has worked on tailored projects for family owned niche brands; and collaborated and worked with polo teams and sponsors, leading thoroughbred horse breeders, racing owners and trainers.
Amrita’s art photography is held in various private and corporate collections across the world. Her work has been shown in a group exhibition at:
Les Grandes Écuries at the Château de Chantilly, France sponsored by LONGINES in collaboration with The Aga Khan Studs and Aga Khan Trust for Culture, presented for the Prix de Diane.
Amrita has also had solo exhibitions of her work at:
