Artist Name

Aninda Varma

Born: 1985

Hometown: London

Based in: Singapore

Aninda uses Indian textiles as her source of inspiration and a medium of communicating her recollections. From an early age she was introduced to fabrics by her mother who had an interest and a keen taste and knowledge of varied weaves. Her works consist of abstract imagery and found organic forms, each piece marking a particular season and memory. The vibrancy in the works comes from the use of gold Zari, which has been sewn into hand woven fabrics.
She is interested in revealing flaws and retaining faults and inaccuracies of sewing, her works covey a sense of calm and brilliance.

Aninda is born (1985) and raised in India. She completed her masters from Pennsylvania Academy of the fine arts (Philadelphia). Currently she lives and works in Singapore.
