Asrul Mustafa

Dr Asrul Mustafa holds a PhD degree from the Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP), Malaysia, a Master degree in Material and Science Technology from the Nagaoka University of Technology (NUT), Japan and a BSc (Hons) from Universiti Malaya. He is currently a Research Officer at the Malaysian Rubber Board (LGM). His involvement in artwork and exhibitions took off after winning the Gold Award at the International Invention, Innovation and Technology Exhibition (ITEX), Kuala Lumpur in May 2017 for the invention of a user-friendly and green medium for visual arts or natural rubber paint. Since then, he has been using the rubber paint to produce artworks. He has taken part in several exhibitions including the Rub’A Paint: From Rubber Trees to Art Gallery at the Malaysian National Art Gallery (June, 2018), Teluk Intan Carnival (July 2017), the Negaraku exhibition opening ceremony at the National Visual Art Gallery (June, 2017) and the Hello Commodity exhibition in Teluk Intan (March, 2017). He also took informal art lessons at the ASE Gallery in Puncak Alam about two years ago. Dr Asrul Mustafa signs his works as ‘AM Hussein’.
