Jay Nathan Jore (1987, Philippines) is a visual artist based in Cebu where he is part of the University of the Philippines Fine Arts academe and curator of the Jose T. Joya Gallery. His interest in queer aesthetics is explored in “Veneered Desires” (2022). In this series, he investigates the less familiar and unexplored queer local art scene by looking into the lives and practices of queer makers and the implication of queerness in objects of art. Interrogating the contexts that give queer art its life, the exhibition attempts to untangle the messy ropes and thick sheets that conceal the rich and intricate lives of queer creatives.
