I am an abstract painter living in Carlsbad, CA. I have traveled widely and lived on three continents, finally finding home in my painting studio. My art is a reflection of the tapestry of cultures, languages and experiences that come to life on the canvas in the form of organized marks, contrasting colors and stripes.
In 2016, I earned a PhD in Neurobiology and I bring an analytical understanding of randomness and order to the canvas. As an artist and scientist, I explore the tensions between fluidity and control, intuition and strict methodology, and subtleties and boldness.
My art is considered a continuation of the Pattern & Decoration movement which ruptured divisions between fine art and design. I strive to make artwork that’s similarly accessible, beautiful, and intellectually engaging.
Inspired by freedom, life experiences and a deep emotional connection, my desire is to convey a message of empowerment and hope. My practice is an orchestration of hues, patterns, and stripes, blended into harmonious compositions. Repeated elements serve as a kind of mantra, calming the viewer’s mind and generating a sense of joy.
