Manfred Hellweger

Austrian sculptor Manfred Hellweger completed his training at the Technical School for Arts and Crafts and Design in Elbigenalp, Tyrol in 2004. In 2013, he completed additional training as a stone sculptor at the technical school for stone processing in Lasa, Italy.

In his body of work, the artist deals with questions surrounding the value and meaning of existence, the world, and the people that inhabit it. His distinctive sculptures are made mainly of wood and metal. During his artistic process, Hellweger joins cuboids, strips, boards or nails together to create a figurative or abstract form that tapers downward. His sculptures thus seem to dissolve vertically, creating a dynamic visual flow. By sculpting these shapes the artist embodies the constant change that defines the time we live in. Everything changes and evolves, nothing remains as is.

The artist currently lives and works in Pettneu am Arlberg and Nesselgarten near Fließ in Tyrol.
