Artist Name

Manuel Ursprung

Hometown: Baden-Baden

Based in: London

German-born, British-based artist Manuel Ursprung specializes in editioned, three-dimensional reliefs in Plaster of Paris, a quick-setting gypsum plaster.

The work in generally chromatically austere – his gold- tinged Being (2013) is one of the few exceptions to date- but highly textured, inspired by urban and natural landscapes.

Case in point: Ursprung’s 2016 Mongolia series imprints the span of Mongolian geology into a smooth exemplar of topographical minimalism.

Impressive for one of design’s most nascent, self-taught actors: his B.A. (2013), strikingly, is in Economics.
