Olivér Szax

Born: 1975

Hometown: Dorog

Based in: Budapest

Oliver Szax was born in 1975 in Hungary. He studied at the School of Art & Decoration in Budapest, where he had the opportunity to meet the basics of painting alongside his first master, Ernő Tolvaly. His first series were made in a minimalist and geometric style. As a following step, realistic figures started connecting to these forms, creating a unique style in which elements of different approach don’t weaken but reinforce each other in a peculiar form of coexistence. His core element is experimenting. His series can be seen at solo and group exhibitions on a regular basis. In addition, his paintings appear on events of contemporary galleries and auction houses.

Olivér Szax In The Studio

Even if the successful creation is accomplished, an eternal and obstinate duality is born: the task is very easy and hard at the same time, the creative process is as short as a moment, and it is also never-ending. A deadly serious play, a give and take game with the past, present and future.
