Mengmei Pan is a professional photographer and filmmaker currently living in the New York City area. She was born in the city of Taizhou, Zhejiang, China in 1993. In 2014, Mengmei enrolled in an Academic Exchange Program and studied at Temple University in Philadelphia for a year, receiving a full scholarship from both the CSC (China Scholarship Council) and ZJNU (Zhejiang Normal University). She received her Bachelor of Engineering degree at Zhejiang Normal University in 2015. She graduated from Maryland Institute College of Art in 2018, where she received her MFA in Photographic & Electronic Media. Her work has been showcased internationally, including: The Millepiani Gallery in Rome, The Greenpoint Gallery in New York City, The Sheila & Richard Riggs Gallery in Baltimore, and The 2019 SPE Media Festival in Cleve- land. Mengmei is also the Third Prize recipient in the Shuirun Jindong 3•22 World Water Day Micro-Film Competition of Jinhua City and winner of the Silver Medal in the 5th Tax Cup Public Service Advertisement Competition of Jinhua City (2D Animation). Recently, Mengmei’s “sound notes 4.0” has been selected for Bronze Prize in the Experimental Film category for the 2nd MEIHODO International Youth Visual Media Festival in Fukuoka, Japan.
