Reuel Rendon (b. 1983, Philipines) draws inspiration from renaissance art, graffiti and cartoons. Referencing classical paintings, Reuel re-contextualizes the didactic and classical into elaborate interpretations of popular culture. Through revitalising historical paintings and altering the icons of contemporary fantasies, Rendon raises the question of boundaries between popular culture and art and how it has been adapted and deformed into contemporary art.
