Born: 1990
Hometown: Tomsk
Based in: Georgia
My name is Tanya Ivolga, I am from Siberia, Tomsk. At the moment I live in Georgia. All my childhood I traveled a lot in my native region, went to the mountains. I loved to draw since childhood and realized early on that drawing is my vocation. So I went to art school, after which I entered a college of culture and arts in the department of painting.
At that time began my immersion in the atmosphere of creativity, a lot of extracurricular activities, studying various techniques of painting and drawing. But I continued my further studies to become a restorer of easel oil painting at the Glazunov Russian Academy of Arts and Industry in Moscow.
At the Academy I was fascinated by the detailed study of art history and techniques of the old masters. I managed to take part in a number of practices in the regions of Russia, working with ancient values of the museums' storerooms as a scientific restorer.
I began my artistic journey while still at the academy, experimenting with themes and techniques.
Since 2020 I've been actively exhibiting in various projects, including exhibitions outside Russia.
At the moment, many of my paintings have found their buyers.
"I often move to other cities and countries, so my workshop moves with me."
What inspires you?
I am inspired by nature and its different states. I love to travel and explore different landscapes. I am also constantly reflecting inside myself and expressing my own emotions and feelings in my paintings. The basis for my paintings is always an existing motif.
Describe your creative process.
I paint after a long stay in nature or a favorite place in the city. For example, when I go to the mountains, I memorize a motif and then depict it. My favorite technique is oil painting. Sometimes I also paint with acrylics.
What are 3 words that best describe your work?
nature, feelings, light
Who are some artists that have influenced your work?
I am very inspired by Claude Monet. I copied his works and learned to see color.
What is the most important tool when creating your work?
The most important tool in my work is the palette knife
What is the best piece of advice you have been given?
Don't paint if you can't paint. But if you can't not paint, then paint.
Where do you go for inspiration?
I travel, and I go to the mountains. It gives me the strength to work. I also take energy in love.
