Artist Name

Zeljka Paic

Born: 1987

Hometown: Banja Luka

Based in: Bosnia and Herzegovina

Zeljka Paic is a full-time artist based in Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina. She is a graduate of both the Academy of Fine Arts (2015) and Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering (2011) of Banja Luka.

As an artist and architect, Zeljka Paic combines her two professions to create an original style of painting: imagination, fused with knowledge of geometry, composition, and color harmony, are the foundational principles of her art. The primary goal of her work is to find a balance between art and mathematics, between emotion and rationality. Observers perceive atmosphere in her paintings, photography, and prints through color and achieve intellectual satisfaction through geometry.

Zeljka Paic In The Studio

In my opinion, having drawing and painting skills is very important, but the essential thing is to have thought-provoking and interesting ideas. Artists have to go deeper under the surface of form and color and to share their own philosophy, emotion, and energy.

More About Zeljka Paic

Question IconWhat inspires you?

I find inspiration in architecture, geometry and nature. For enriching myself and my art I prefer traveling, reading, research, visiting museums, being surrounded by interesting people, and having a fulfilled life.

Question IconDescribe your creative process.

The pleasant surrounding and peaceful environment are playing a significant role for my art related work. The studio is in the house where I live, so I can express myself artistically anytime. At the beginning of creating new artwork I usually make sketches and sometimes experiment with colors or materials. I find the title of the artwork very important and always spend some time thinking about it. Physical action during the painting process gives me a balance between body and mind.

Question IconWhat are 3 words that best describe your work?

Clearness, harmony and simplicity.

Question IconWho are some artists that have influenced your work?

Piet Mondrian and Victor Vasarely

Question IconWhat is the most important tool when creating your work?

Brush

Question IconWhat is the best piece of advice you have been given?

Whatever you do nobody else can do that better than you. You have to find what you can do better than anyone else and what you have in yourself that nobody else has. Wim Wenders

Question IconWhere do you go for inspiration?

I find inspiration everywhere.
