Hometown: Niigata, Japan
Lives and Works: Niigata, Japan
Created by the wisdom and ambition of their ancestors to add value to life and contribute back to the rich nature of Japan, the Hara family continues to master two bronze casting techniques – Lost-wax casting and Hanshidou. Their craft was designated an Intangible Cultural Property by the prefecture in 1978. Due to the nature of the craft, organic process and material, every object produced is unique and ages beautifully over generations.
