Alyson McCrink

Alyson McCrink

Hometown: Seattle

Based in: Seattle

Alyson McCrink is a contemporary abstract painter who lives and works in Seattle, Washington. A native of the west coast, her colorful representations of nature pay homage to her homeland. Her distinctive personal style emanates curiosity among her viewers.

Her artwork can be viewed as a topographical depiction of the Earth, an underwater perspective, or a landscape of a far away horizon. All views are all brought to life with contrasting and harmonious colors and bold compositions. As the artist explains, “I’m trying to show aspects of the natural world that need attention brought to them. I welcome the viewer to contemplate the visual journey of each painting.”

As a child Alyson took any object she could find to color or paint on. From a young age she has believed, “You can create the world you see in your mind, to show others a better way.” She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Boise State University and has been an active artist, showing her work in galleries, fine art festivals, and public spaces.

Alyson’s artwork has been shown in exhibitions in Washington, California, Idaho and Oregon. Some of her paintings were recently acquired by Marriott for display at their location in Agoura, CA, as well as The City Of Seattle’s permanent collection. She regularly participates in Fine Art Festivals, and is in various galleries throughout the country.

She has a body of work that is available for purchase and does custom, commission pieces as well. She sells pieces in a large variety of sizes and prices, so there is something for everyone.

More About Alyson McCrink

IconInspires

What inspires you?

I am an abstract painter that is inspired by the natural landscapes of the Pacific Northwest region. I translate those landscapes, colors and textures into an abstract representation through my acrylic, ink and resin paintings. try and replicated the water, rocks, plants, and weather by creating thick textures and vibrant colors in my work.

IconCreative

Describe your creative process.

I primarily paint with acrylic paint, heavy texture and gold or silver leaf on canvas as well as ink and resin on wood panel. I love playing with various acrylic mediums to build up a variety of textures in my paintings. The resin pieces are smooth and glassy with an almost 3D effect, where you can see into the resin layers.
