Lives and Works: Makati City Philippines
Painting has been a way of life for the past 25 years. After taking a big stumble into an art workshop 25 years ago in the city where I lived ( Makati City), I was hooked!
Several exhibits and 18 years of teaching is the road map of my accomplishments. Trained in the classical arts(traditional oil painting mostly), I spent a great majority of my studying at the Hampstead School of Art before I finally finished off at Christie's education in London.
The life of an auctioneer was never in the cards for me, I realized that after my stint at Christie's but to be surrounded by masterpieces day after day was the highlight of those years in London. I remember days right after school or even weekends, (especially Sundays) when I would go to the galleries at Trafalgar square and sit for hours staring at old masters works trying to imagine how I would execute my own pieces.
The time finally came when I surged forward, armed with the education to paint as much as I wanted and to share the knowledge of the classical arts(mostly oil paintings) to interested young students who prefer the workshop to a classroom environment.
Time flew by and my own techniques have evolved hoping to explore other mediums such as acrylics, ink, mixed media and other such interesting revolutionized mediums in order to stretch my imagination.
The world inspires me. I’m quite drawn to everything and everyone.
Sometimes when I think of what to do I have to imagine it finished before I breakdown the process of how to do it. At other times I just trust the colors.
Intriguing, bright, broad
