Ania Luk

Hometown: Warsaw

Based in: Warsaw

I am an artist, graduated at Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts. I co-operate with leading galleries and art dealers around the world and my artworks have already been exhibited in the USA, China, Singapore, South Korea, the UK, Italy, France and Poland. My art can be found in private and corporate collections in various parts of the world.

After graduating, I had been painting for pleasure for a few years. Currently I paint on canvas one-off artworks, using mainly acrylic paints.
My body of works is combination of the figurative, geometric abstraction and rigorous aesthetics. Geometry brings peace and order, where there is chaos. Abstraction is a natural complement to geometry, which allows me to deliberately disturb proportions in my art to highlight the emotions I want to express.

Beauty and harmony is what I always adored in art. There are many artists, who I look up to, but my favorites are Modigliani and Klimt and from Polish artist - Wroblewski and Nowosielski.

More About Ania Luk

IconInspires

What inspires you?

Beauty and harmony is what I always adored in art. Works of artist such as Modigliani or Klimt always seemed so charming to me. I admire Matisse for his own beautiful style-colors and lines, but most of all for being the first to resign from creating the illusion of space. I also admire Picasso for his seeking of the truth, which led to cubism.

IconCreative

Describe your creative process.

In my case, this is a thoughtful, methodical work. Every single line has a crucial meaning to me - until each of them fits in perfectly on the canvas surface - the work is not finished. Sometimes my paintings happen to hang for a week or two so I am able to observe it from different angles until it finally "clicks". Sometimes it's a really difficult cooperation. This is because the form is not only an illustration of the idea for me, but is a value itself.
