Aryaman was born in New Delhi, India in 1993. He grew up in a house surrounded by music, art and philosophy. Dixit’s mother was a trained filmmaker and he spent many hours in his early years attending shoots, music and editing sessions. His mother was also a trained Indian classical singer. His father brought a completely different influence into his life introducing him to Rock music from the early 1960’s to the late 1970’s.
This love for music finds expression through Dixit’s photography. Having discovered photography at the young age of 17, Dixit has spent the last 5 years shooting and documenting the vibrant music scene in India. He has shot virtually all known and many upcoming solo musicians, bands and artists across genre. Dixit’s preferred mode is Black and White and his photographs have an energetic rhythm capturing the various moods of performing musicians.
Apart from this, Dixit does a lot of exploratory work which reflects a certain melancholy, of being alone even while in a crowd. ‘Landscapes in a cup’ is a recent body of work and an ongoing series.
Dixit studied photography at The School of Photography, Bharati Vidyapeeth, Pune. He is now a full-time, independent photographer based in India.
