Lives and Works: Chicago
Drawing inspiration from architecture to nature, from space to current events, Ceyda Aykan often works in series consisting of oil paintings, murals, etchings and wood prints. Different subjects and different executions have one thing in common: an intriguing dream like appearance and an invitation to the viewer not only to the artist's headspace, ideas and thoughts, but the viewer's own imagination and thoughts. This is not an arbitrary arrival, but a calculated act for the viewer to step in.
Ceyda Aykan completed her MFA with Fulbright scholarship at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She showed in Istanbul, Seville, Chicago and New York.
