Lives and Works: Singapore
Born in 1985, Shitong produces work that translates between, painting and printmaking. His interest in surface texture and human figures had led him to create works that question our existence in life and contemplation of man-made and nature object. Shitong began his studies at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts majoring in Painting in 2003. He received a BA in Fine Arts from Gold Smith College in partnership with Lasalle College of the Arts in 2013.
Most recently, he had his first Solo Exhibition with Mulan Gallery, titled; On Common Ground, featuring his latest series of Prints and Paintings, he was also involved in The Printmaking Festival 2017, a first such festival focusing on printmaking artist book in Singapore. In 2016, Shitong’s work was exhibited in Local’s only, a first such initiative by TAKSU Gallery Singapore. Phrase, Rephrase, a group exhibition with Galerie Steph, Singapore in 2015. In 2014, his work was showcased at LWH Gallery, Shanghai in a two-person exhibition titled, My Dreams our Hopes. Shitong's work was selected to participate in Spot Art 2012, the first ever juried based exhibition held for the artist under the age of 30 in Singapore.
He is a recipient of the Winston Oh Travel Award in 2012. And in 2009, he was a recipient of Nafa Fine Art Award winning in the Nafa Wood Award category. He was involved in SMRT Singapore, commissioned Art in Transit project, a group project initiated by Lasalle College of the Arts.
