Lives and Works: Singapore and Perth, WA
"Art is a necessary force for good. It does not hesitate to unmask the demons that lie within all of us, and by doing so, declares for eternity that we are not afraid." - CL
Not having had any formal fine-art training, Clare's work is the lovechild of catharsis and craft – stories escaping onto the canvas via ink, acrylic, and watercolour – often completed in a single seating.
Embracing the beauty of the tabula rasa, her art is conceived free from conscious agenda and expectation. "I never know where the canvas will take me. They seek me out, not the other way around."
The commonalities that flow through each of the surreal pieces are themes that explore the duality of nature, atonement and grief, all presenting human frailty in a raw, honest and deeply empathetic light.
Clare graduated with a B.A. in Media Studies, majoring in Film with high distinctions in Design from Murdoch University (Western Australia) in 2005. Since then, she has spent over a decade in the Media and Branding industry, becoming a Creative Director helming international projects for an award-winning agency before making the decision to leave the scene to pursue Art in 2017.
