Lives and Works: Singapore
Singaporean painter Danny Raven Tan’s survived pancreatic cancer in 2010. Danny was mentored by Mr Poh Siew Wah, a Singaporean artist known for his powerful Abstract and Expressionistic styled paintings, for only two years when he was a student in Nanyang Junior College.
In 2015, Danny left LASALLE College of the Arts, after spending six years marketing the college and decided to pursue his dream as a painter. He co-founded The Tiffin Gallery, a unique art appreciation space nestled in the heartland of Singapore, Ang Mo Kio. In 2016 he presented his first show Un*listed at The Tiffin Gallery and it was very well received by many of the visitors to the gallery.
“A gallery of this nature, where artists combines living, working, and exhibiting his artworks would be interesting to both locals and tourists, who are curious about where and how the majority of Singaporean lives.” - Danny R. Tan
Apart from showcasing original artwork by Singapore painter Danny Raven TAN, The Tiffin Gallery is also a showroom for his other design work such as fun and quirky cushion covers, mugs, mats, duvets, pillow cases, T-shirts and many other household items that tells a Singaporean HDB story. The Gallery seeks to provide an alternative facet of arts appreciation to the HDB community by opening up its doors from time to time to the neighbours.
Conceptual, impressionistic and provocative - some might even say Danny’s works are controversial.
Danny’s works have been acquired by collectors from UK, USA, Hong Kong Taiwan and Thailand.
