Lives and Works: Ulaanbaatar
Dulguun Baatarsukh (Dulguun) was born in 1984 in Ulaanbaatar and graduated in 2005 from the School of Fine Arts, Mongolian University of Arts and Culture with a degree in Fashion Design and Painting. She is a member of the "Nomad Wave" female performance art group and of the "Blue Sun" contemporary art movement.
Dulguun is a young Mongolian artist, who expresses herself through various art elements. Mild forms on strong background, the use of mixed techniques such as traditional dolls, installations and fashion design makes her differ a lot from other artists.
Her perception of humans is singular and allows her unique imagination to grant her models with often supernatural features. She currently paints and designs fashion clothes with artistic components.
Her artwork shows innocence, dreams and the inner world of a young woman while she wants to criticize the art industry and society at the same time.
Dulguun has participated in more than 28 fashion shows, performance art and group art exhibitions in Mongolia and 6 other countries in Asia and Europe. Her presence at international exhibitions include: at the "Affordable Art Fair" in Milan in 2015; at the "Daejon Arts Collective" in Daejon, South Korea in 2014; at the "Body, Earth, Mind" International Arts Festival in Kathmandu in 2012; at the renowned fashion brand "Shanghai Tang" event (as part of the Nomad Wave Group) in Hong Kong in 2011; at the 46th and 47th Japan Fashion Design Contests in 2008-2009 in Tokyo; at the Affordable Art Fair in Milan in 2015; at the European Commission Exhibition in Brussels in 2011; at the 800th Anniversary of the Great Mongol Empire exhibition in Roanne, France in 2006.
Her work has been highly awarded 6 times for special prize including the best designer, top honor and grand prize in "Let's dress Mongolian" fashion contest in 2009.
