Fatema Al Mazrouie is an emerging, talented UAE artist. After graduating in Visual Arts and Design from Zayed University, her artistic career took off in the Salwa Zeidan Gallery where she participated in most of the gallery group shows. Her first auctioned painting was at Sotheby’s in 2010. In 2013 she was chosen as the gallery’s featured Signature artist at Art Abu Dhabi, where several of her works were purchased by Zayed National Museum.
Recently she has been chosen for residency in Lepsien Art Foundation, one of the most prestigious global residency programs. She participated in three international group exhibitions which took place in London, while her artworks earned her a spot among the 50 Emirati artists at the Art Foundation Paris, France. Some of her pieces were recently purchased by several known private collectors as well as institutions such as Salama bint Hamdan Foundation. Fatema was also selected as one of the participating artists of “Portrait of the Nation” show in 2016, organized by ADMAF.
The artworks of this talented UAE artist represent an integrated, dimensional world in which several components are aligned: artist combines textile material used in the Emirates during 1940s and '50s with traditional elements and models from the UAE cultural milieu that are no longer used, that together contribute to the creation of an interactive artwork.
