Born in Punta Arenas, Chile. 1959.
Visual artist/Architect.
I studied art at Instituto de Arte Contemporáneo in Santiago and architecture at Universidad Católica de Valparaíso.
My language as a visual artist is abstract.
I am interested in gestures that are printed on paper or canvas. That's why I'm choosing different tools apart from brushes. I think that in the first strokes/gestures there is something fundamental that cannot be overcome later.
What inspires you?
nature, musique, silence.
Describe your creative process.
My architect training keeps me in the rigor of observation and being faithful to what the eye sees. Also to read the presence of the void, since architecture is in a certain way, a model of the habitable void. I'm interested in the gestures that are printed on paper or canvas, I think that in the first strokes there is something fundamental that cannot be overcome later. I usually work with pure colors and I prefer the spatula to be the one that mixes the colors unpredictably.
