Lives and Works: Shanghai
Born in 1990, graduate from the Chinese Academy of Art, Hu Weiyi, multimedia artist, lives and works in Shanghai. His work combines photography, video, installation, sculpture, action and, with an influence of social ethnography, theatre and film. The works of Hu Weiyi have been the subject of major exhibitions, solo and group in China and abroad. They include: Group Show at Helmhaus Museum, 12.2016-02.2017, Zurich, Switzerland; The 3rd Shenzhen Independent Animation Biennale, Shenzhen, China (12.2016-03.2017); «Open Up», duo show with Shen Han, Edmond Gallery, Berlin (09-11.2016);« We-A Community of Chinese Contemporary Artists », Chi K11 Art Space, Shanghai (2016) ; « New voices : a dslcollection story », Klein Sun Gallery, New York (2016) ; « Hu Weiyi », Asia Art Center, Taiwan(2015) ; « No Express », Ullens Center for Contemporary Art, Beijing(2015) ; « Reformation », White Rabbit, Chippendale(2014); Summer Session V2_, Rotterdam(2013) ; « The Bad Land », intervention in the public space by young artists in which Hu Weiyi is a curating artist, Shanghai (2012).
