Jean-Humbert Savoldelli

Born: 1956

Hometown: Lamagdelaine

Based in: france

I paint for over 20 years ; I started painting by Hyper-realism and Trompe-l'oeil. I've learned the basics in a special course of decorative painting. The School of Trompe l'Oeil taught me discipline and a certain technique. Over time these have imprisoned me in limiting the freedom of my desires and my creative choices. I managed to free myself from this constraints by radically changing my way of painting on canvas : in 2013, acrylic, knife and abstract expressionism replaced oil, brush, and hyper realism. Frustrated for so many years my creativity has been very productive. Instead of showing everything to the viewer, I now give him a support to daydream based on color harmonies, perspectives, verticals and horizontals witch occupied space without ever clogging it. I introduced recently a new element in the composition of some of my paintings : sand Mixed with glue and used sparingly, it brings particular look in both effects, that in contrast. Still no or very few spheres and circle in my compositions, they break, I think, refinement that I seek and disrupt the harmony and elegance that I wish to give to my paintings ... All my works are protected by a high quality varnish, the edges are painted, usually in black and the paintings are ready to hang

In 2019 the american garment maker" Dolcezza" acquired the rights of two of my paintings to use them on clothes for their collection "Simply Art Fall2019"
They also acquired the rights of an other painting for their collection "Simply Art Spring 2021"

I've been featuring in the supplement of the British Art Book TALLULAH "15 contemporary artists to watch" in 2016 and I'm also been featuring in the SAATCHI's paper Catalog sent to thousands american collectors.

2020 "STROKES OF PERFECTION" compilation of indian & international masterpieces 18/19 october New Dehli India

I've been featured in the exhibition in augmented reality ARTEBINARIA "Art inside Gallery" 1 to 31 october 2020

What inspires you?

I'm inspiring by the colorful harmonies. Some of them are easy to use for others it's a little bit more complicated but it's a real pleasure to work with colors that are not supposed to match and to lay out in a way that it would work...

IconCreative

Describe your creative process.

I start by creating a colorful harmony, and then I apply different layers that I cut in different kind of stripes revealing the previous layer, I work on perspectives everything is abstract but when I paint the silhouettes which are my "trademark" I influence the viewer, the abstract layer became often an abstract landscape in which people are moving
