Ksenija Španec was born 1966, in Zagreb, Croatia. She started to explore photography quite late in life, first by using a digital camera which she replaced, very soon with film cameras.
Although her main focus is on flower and plant photography, subjects of her photography are various. She is a self taught photographer. She is a member of photographic association Kadar36 and Fotoklub Zagreb.
Ksenija exhibited in four solo and group exhibitions in her hometown Zagreb, in the USA , Italy, Istambul, Mexico, Argentina. Her photographs were published in various online and printed magazines.
The light that reveals natural forms and textures inspires me the most. In my photographic work I use natural and superficial light to reveal or to create.
Observing is the first step towards an idea. It is the crucial moment, when I begin to feel the „connection“. It is also the moment in which excitement arises and then I know it is the right moment to start photographing.
