Marvin Natural paints with the eyes of a Filipino’s day-to-day perspective. A social realist born in Toledo, Cebu, his visual works echo today’s political and cultural issues, exploring around his observations of his own environment and realities. His paintings, that have managed to capture and highlight the plight of the Filipinos in societal battles, have been part of group shows in Cebu, Manila, Singapore, and Paris.
Natural, a self-taught painter, started carving a rich background in national level art competitions and group exhibitions at an early age. Awards under his belt include the Metrobank Art and Design Excellence Annual Art Exhibit in 2004 and in 2006, among others. He was recognized with the Juror’s Award for Excellence by the Philippine Art Awards twice, first in 2010 and second in 2014. Apart from these achievements, his works are a regular sight in the Philippine Art Awards mostly as a finalist.
Recent international exhibits that display his works include the World Expo and World Art Fair in China in 2010, Mugna Art Residency in France in 2013, the Basel Art Fair, Hong Kong in 2014 and Art Apart Fair in Singapore in 2015.
