Hometown: Los Angeles

Based in: Los Angeles

Nik Shanlin is a Los Angeles-based visual artist who has pursued a multi-disciplinary career in design while gradually building upon his own personal aesthetic. Nik Shanlin converges mediums and techniques that culminate in meticulously crafted tonal nuance that is part at random, yet intentional. He describes his work and process as such:

"My artworks are an amalgamation of traditional techniques and modern technology that resonate from contemporary culture and are a commentary on our varied perceptions that tend to be akin to our own personal experience of reality. This is part of an ongoing series where I'm exploring the facet of conventional painting as well as disillusioning the context. By way of this, I'm attempting to seamlessly converge imagery and meaning to the desired effect. I employ what can be a simple or complex process depending on each piece. My chosen mediums are based on an intended end result and how that'll best translate my idea."
