Lives and Works: Dallas, Tx
Romanho Cid is a contemporary artist who lives and work in Dallas, Tx. A native of Santiago de Chile, his colorful and primitives works have found the cubist and futurism expression to tell a story on each piece.
Romanho has reverence for solitude and his work shows his pass clearly. The flat use of colors reinforces how the artist sees the world, every portrait stick to the canvas seems important, it holds the image in time. Romanho introduces a multi dimensional story, yet it is two dimensional. The way the artist tells the story, the way he paints, the colors he chooses, the different issues he embraces and how he combines them together make every piece an amazing story visually. In every painting each overlap stands out individually , gracefully yet forcefully. And in all of it, Romanho seems to be represented. The passion from the artist is there, strong and defiant. That edginess, that pride, that anger, that hope make every subject jumps from the canvas.
Raw emotions breath in every work of Romanho. The artist does not allow any holding back, he wants to be present in each painting, not missing, not absent .
In his works Romanho has found the cubist/futurism dimensions but brought them one step further by adding modern photo portraiture. And not traditional portraiture, but photo-stylish.
Romanho enjoy himself working on communities projects that includes working with children like ”Planet Peace USA”. “The Umbrella For Peace Project “ in Dallas , “NHO to Child Abuse” an initiative he created to educate about this issue. The project was launched in Mumbai, India in 2018 and the initiative continues. This year 2019, Romanho is working on a new campaign “ People United for a Green Planet” in partnership with Art For Your Cause to educate about Climate Change.
The artist was juried 2 years in a roll winner of the Artist’s Guilt at The Cathedral of Hope, commissioned to create a mosaic for COH, an special award at the Dallas Arts Gala at the Dallas Convention Center Arena, commissioned to create a special painting for EXHALE, Inc , in New York and for the Waxahachie Bank and Trust.
