Sara Shimizu was born in Saitama. She began studying graphic design at Tokyo Gakugei University in 2007. While in school, she looked into a book of paintings of Hundertwasser, and began drawing a miniature with ballpoint pen. She started choosing food as a motif because she has been learning dance since her childhood and she was interested in the food that make up the body. She makes the work of art in order to express the gratitude and respect for food.
