I picked up the brush at the age of 3, with a box of paints and painted the walls with the colors of my imagination. I found and developed my style after I started painting professionally 2 years ago. The journey which started with commissioned artworks for friends and family culminated with my ultimate choosing of Abstract Styled painting.
I initially planned to be an interior architect, bringing together my love for interior decoration and creating living spaces and graduated from Pearl University with a BA Honours in Arts. I explored the home décor and interior industry for 2 years until I decided to pursue my dream of becoming an artist.
“When I travel, I bring back with me one memory which I have to paint. The colors, the smells, the weather, the emotions that I feel at that time become the centre of my canvas”
I draw inspiration from travelling all around the world, and bringing back memories which then I translate onto my canvas. “My canvas is my world, and the colours I paint on it are the colours of my life”. My painting technique is delicate, using soft strokes but the bold colour combinations give my paintings a fierce look. Being inspired by Jackson Pollocks dripping technique and Hans Hoffman’s strong colour theories, my paintings are action paintings. My canvas mimics my body gesture and creates a world of its own.
“I don’t know what I was born to be, but I definitely know what I will die as; an Artist.”
What inspires you?
“ The world I see is the world I paint”. “When I travel, I bring back with me one memory which I have to paint. The colors, the smells, the weather, the emotions that I feel at that time become the centre of my canvas”
Describe your creative process.
When I am travelling, I get inspired by natural colour palette around me. I try to imagine it with a painting technique which would best compliment it. Therefore I take it to my canvas and let the canvas help me understand what works best further.
