Lives and Works: Shanghai
Song Tao 宋涛 (b.1969) is one of China's leading artists, staging his solo exhibitions in China, France and South Korea in the last three decades. In the last decade, he has curated exhibitions in China, Germany and South Korea. He is also the Founder of ZiZaoShi and O-Gallery. He is a sought after academic, with published papers on reconstruction of traditional crafts and delivering lectures in Beijing, Hong Kong and Shanghai covering topics from Chinese designs to the business of design.
Throughout his career, he held various important posts in the industry including Chairman of the Design Committee for Ullens Center for Contemporary Art, Beijing, consultant and curator for Beijing International Design Week, Convener for Poly International Auction Famous Designer Works and Partner at England's Media Ten Exhibition Group, Shanghai International Design Exhibition. In 2011, he founded China's First Original Chinese Lifestyle Museum with MaCalline. He was later given the recognition by Furnishing China - Crystal Unicorn Award and the China Award for Outstanding Original Furniture Brands.
