Lives and Works: Singapore
Tung Yue Nang (b.1959, Singapore) is an artist based in Singapore. Tung’s art encompasses traditional painting media and mixed media, and he is well-versed in both Western and Chinese painting styles.
Tung is the recipient of several awards, including at least four highly-commended paintings at the UOB Singapore Painting of the Year national competition and an Outstanding Award at the Ministry of Communications & Art (MICA) Art Competition in 1987. To date, Tung has participated in numerous group exhibitions and held 12 successful solo exhibitions.
Tung’s works are influenced by his exposure to different cultures, including the Peranakan culture of Singapore and Malaya, and to the artist’s ongoing study of Eastern philosophy and Western painting concepts. Tung is also known for his large, expressive outdoor drawings which he executes on-site.
