Describe your creative process.
My paitings are based on transcription of found textual information into visual alphabets of colours and shapes creating coding systems. Usually these ciphers consist of two layers – in the first (background) is to every letter of existing alphabet given a colour. The second layer, I call a shape code, is according to a certain rule created a diagonal system of lines which linked together creates planes. These are afterwards coated in several layers of transparent fluid colour.
What are 3 words that best describe your work?
System, Layers, Transparency
Who are some artists that have influenced your work?
Bridget Riley, Sarah Morris, Esther Stocker, Kenneth Noland, Gerhard Richter, Francis Bacon
What is the most important tool when creating your work?
Tesa Masking Tape - in love with this - and Lascaux colors - even more in love
What is the best piece of advice you have been given?
My Art Academy professor said: You have to work hard. So I do. And I also love this qoute by Andy Warhol: "Don't think about making art, just get it done. Let everyone else decide if it's good or bad, whether they love it or hate it. While they are deciding, make even more art.”
Where do you go for inspiration?
My work is my biggest inspiration. But I also try to have my eyes wide open and to record the world around me and to rewrite this eperience into my paintings.
