Wong Lip Chin was born in Singapore in 1987. As an artist, his practice runs the gamut from performance to drawing, to printmaking, painting and large-scale installations. His iconography is informed by pop culture and politics; his work is both autobiographical and socio-politically engaged, at once satirical and experimental, and almost always imbued with his particular brand of wit. After graduating from LASALLE College of the Arts, he was part of the SAF creative team during his national service years. He subsequently spent protracted periods of time abroad, in Europe and the USA, as part of a self-imposed sabbatical. Wong’s work has been featured in a number of solo and group shows, both locally and internationally; he has shown with Michael Janssen Galerie, Shanghart and Yavuz Fine Art. His oeuvre also includes public works commissioned by the Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation (OCBC), and the Marina Mandarin Hotel.
