Yuyang Liu is a freelance photographer currently based in Shanghai, working with Getty Images and The New York Times. He has been self-taught in photography since 2007, and chose to receive a fellowship to New York University in 2014 to study photography.
His images focus on ethnic, health and environmental issues in China. He won the Magnum Foundation Human Rights & Photography Fellowship, Abigail Cohen Fellowship in Documentary Photography and Ian Parry Scholarship and selected as PDN’s 30 in 2017. His work has been published in TIME, The New York Times, NPR, BBC, The Guardian, and more. He also collaborates with NGOs such as UNICEF, Greenpeace and Save the Children.
