An artwork divided horizontally into two sections of red and gold. Although it gives the illusion of a two single monochromatic blocks of color, each contains over 4 layers to give them a subtle colour variance and fine texture that is visible even unlit. The contrast and reflectivity of the two different surfaces create a powerful draw on the eye.
These are also the most popular primary bridal colors amongst Indians. Some quality of Indian weddings, represented here by their archetypal colors, led me to paint this piece. I wanted to express their significance and their deep roots in the psyche of Indians and across their many subcultures.

Lives and Works: Hyderabad
Abdullah Khan is a painter whose works may be described as cubist, conceptual, minimalist. His works are observations and experiments in human perception, vision and colour, and overcoming the challenges of depicting a 4d world on a flat surface using various themes, or concepts. His work was featured in the State Gallery of Fine Arts, Hyderabad, and has done 3 public exhibits. He continues to actively produce, and documents his work at instagram.com/abdullahkhan.art and pigmentartgallery.com
His artworks are exquisite creations made by hand, with hundreds of layers and unique colour palettes in a technique he's mastered over 4 years of painting: clean, crisp lines separating blocks of colour. He always starts from scratch, on a blank piece of paper. Most of the time there is a concept or subject behind a painting that had particular significance or had inspired him based around which an artwork is created. He mixes his own paint, never using paint direct from the tube, and using hardware brushes for their granular texture to compliment his precise, speedy brush strokes. Quality materials are used to ensure longevity: these paintings should last for many decades if properly maintained. They take weeks and sometimes even months to finish. On occasion he paints murals on walls and also takes commissions and will paint something specific to your idea or space.
