Project title: Exploring the Connection between Positive and Negative Space in Relation to Art
Where does the image stop on the page? For this project, I wanted to play with the idea that the page is a part of the image and the photograph bleeds onto the page, creating a silhouette figure between the stencil lines of the print and the blank void of the page.
I have always had an interest in minimalism and design.
I enjoy the clean lines, the solid colors, and the contemporary, futuristic feel.
In my work, I experiment with combining two areas together, architecture and graphic design inspired by the Bauhaus movement to create a unique perspective of the subject. I use my camera to capture odd angles, sharp contrasts and interesting voids that many do not notice when passing by a structure. I allow the sky to disappear in the background of my images, as I want to explore the artistic relationship between the positive (black) and negative (white) space in relation with the rag paper on which it is printed.

Adrienne Berry is a black and white film photographer who shoots with 35mm and medium-format film using either a Leica M6 or Zeiss Ikon Ikoflex. She studied Art History and Studio Art at the University of Virginia (2019) and then lived in Paris, France for several months to learn French to a fluent proficiency.
Adrienne is passionate about architecture, architectural history and the Bauhaus movement. She enjoys pushing the traditional boundaries of what is a photo: is it the entire printed page, a collage of shapes and forms, an illustration, is it similar to a stencil or is it just the contrast between the positive and negative space? Adrienne's artwork focuses on the power of striking compositions and bold structures.
