Tumbleweeds symbolize the desolation, travel, an icon of the West…. They ramble around at the mercy of the wind. This mixed media series uses the tumbleweed as inspiration for this abstract series that explores openness, connection to the west, and the personal exploration of why the tumbleweed symbolizes this moment.
Hometown: Chapel Hill
Based in: Chapel Hill, NC
I was born in California, where my earliest memories are creating with crayons and whatever else I could find. I have moved frequently and that certainly has shaped my life outlook. I graduated from High School in Paris, France. I was tired of moving so I decided to go to UNC-Charlotte (graduating with a BFA in Art in 2001), since Durham was the last place I had lived before going overseas. I moved to Chapel Hill after graduation and keep coming back whenever I leave. Chapel Hill is considered home.
After realizing that art is what I was truly meant to do, I picked up again with abstraction and dedicated myself to creating full time. The biggest hurdles I faced were finding places to show art and gaining exposure. I started out with art fairs and exploring social media to further my reach and started building a momentum.
In 2019, I became a member of the Orange County Artists Guild (OCAG). I have participated in many shows within the Guild in addition to independent juried exhibitions, have been published, and I am continuously exploring new avenues to take my work to the next level.
