Item Description
THE STORY
The inspiration behind this artwork was the yellow matchbox called 'Cook's Matches' I used daily in London, which exemplify for me how beauty can be inconspicuous and available every day.
THE PROCESS
This is a combination of photo etching with some hand-drawn line etching and soft-ground etching, made on a zinc plate.

Amrita is a post-lunch, afternoon printmaker, with a background in Social Anthropology from the London School of Economics. She has trained and worked closely with a master printmaker in Calcutta; has completed a residency at East London Printmakers, and exhibits her work widely all over the world. She loves to explore several techniques of printmaking, such as woodcut, etching, lithography, screen-printing, et al, and finds particular interest in experimenting with non-toxic methods, such as kitchen lithography, mokuhanga, and solar etching. Her recent artwork attempts to express her exploration of strong personal insights, and lasting memories of occupied intimate spaces.
