Love and Lust in the Time of Corona was painted during the outbreak of the pandemic in March/April 2020. It was a time that I was experiencing a lot of suffering due to going off of my SSRI anti-depressant meditation. I created this painting as a distraction to my anxiety and was able to experience brief moments of joy during the dot painting process.
The colors are my signature gradient hues of blue, purple, and turquoise. The center dot is my favorite part, as it has layers and layers of paint on top of each other, that it creates this powerful three dimensional quality and plays with your senses. It's one of my favorite paintings to date.

Amy Diener is a Bangkok based artist from New York. She specializes in mandala vibrant dot paintings inspired by the colors and patterns from her travel encounters. Her artwork also draws influence from sacred geometry, the Fibonacci sequence, and the cosmos. She has had a long history of battling OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) and uses art as a coping mechanism to relieve anxiety. She paints only dots in her artwork because she finds the creative process to be very meditative. She patiently dips and drops layers of acrylic paint onto a surface to achieve her tactile 3D dots. The process requires extreme focus and concentration, thus inspiring her to be fully aware in the present moment. Amy’s goal is to bring awareness and destigmatize mental health through art and mindfulness practices. She sees herself as the gateway between her mesmerizing paintings and the mental health community. Her paintings instill a positive and joyful mood. She also hopes to evoke love, compassion, kindness, and inner peace through the meditation of her healing mandalas.
She has exhibited her works worldwide including in New York, Thailand, Dubai, Singapore, and Germany. Lastly, she has been featured in noteworthy magazines such as the Bangkok Post and landed on the front cover of Wanderlust: Expat Life and Style Magazine. You can find more of her work on her website at www.amydiener.com.
