Artist Profile
Born: 1958
Hometown: San Lorenzo de El Escorial
Based in: Madrid
Ana Guerrero was born in Madrid in 1958 and lives and works in San Lorenzo de El Escorial in the Sierra de Madrid.
She studied performing arts and cinema, but suffered an accident that left her paraplegic and from then on she began to paint. She first she self-taught and then she attended different workshops, but it was at the hands of her teacher Marta Ratti who opened the way to the techniques and arts of painting.
She works with oil on canvas, watercolour on paper, and photography. Her themes are based on the macrocosm and the microcosm and with a deep inner and meditative inclination of being and of space and time. She handles figuration and abstraction as different ways of representation, but always based on a search for spirituality and reflection. Her canvas is impregnating it with subtlety with oil based on free, patient and balanced brushstrokes with an exquisite handling of colour.
