The subject of fragmented memories remains central in Astika’s 2019 series, Anamnesis, by looking at human’s relationship with objects. Though it is often associated with symbols of status, wealth, and extravagance, chandeliers became the object of choice because it is easily the most memorable object inside a building. It evokes a sense of nostalgia while at the same time signifying the warmth and safety of a home, both in the artist’s personal memory and from the collective perception.
