About Portrait Series
Portraiture is a traditional art genre. Some portrait paintings are influenced by the studies of anatomy, while photography inspires others. But neither of the two strategies is what I want to follow, for I hope to paint a portrait using only my language. The expression of a person is ever flowing, so are the bright lines on the face of the figure in my painting. The lines could stand for rays of light, emotions, or the painter’s feelings towards the person. Human lives are not still. Thus a person should be represented in a state between likeness and unlikeness, which is where the truth lies.
