Artist Statement
In artistic process I have formed and arched directly from an entire block of clay out.
This intuitive procedure creates the dynamic spatial volume of the abstract, autonomous terracotta sculpture - an elemental, flowing, plastic shape in which mental organic forces of nature are visible.
In the energetic process of the smoke firing, the terracotta sculpture undergoes a further transformation.

Based in: Island of Pellworm
Born 1973, grew up in a family of artists on Pellworm, an island in the Wadden Sea, a UNESCO World Heritage site along the North Sea coast of Germany.
After training in therapeutics and pedagogical studies, completion of training as a professional ceramicist in Berlin in 2007.
