Artist Statement
This drawing is from my visual research on mineral forms.
I was fascinated by the beauty of shapes and colors during my visit to the mineralogy museum. this experience pushed me to work on these forms in search of an expression of what I felt as a link with memory, time, the time of the earth.

Aslı Torcu (Konya, 1981) lives and works in Paris. Having completed her education at the Painting Department of Mimar Sinan University, Istanbul and completing her master degree at the Université Paris VIII, the artist still continues her PhD studies at the same university in Paris where she is teaching. She had her first solo exhibition “Reminiscence” at Galeri Zilberman in 2012, Istanbul.
Her work exhibited in several contemporary art fairs like Contemporary Istanbul, Zona Maco, Vienna Art Fair, Abu Dhabi Art Fair. She participated "18th Prix de Peinture Antoine Marin" and "Novembre à Vitry" in France; collective exhibitions "Past and Future" Istanbul Modern Museum, "Small Faces/Larges sizes" Elgiz Museum in Istanbul, "Inn London" in London, "Figure out" in Dubai, "Embracing the solitude" in Montréal, "Transferts" in Paris, etc. Her work is in the collection of Istanbul Museum of Modern Art.
